Such a beautiful song I came across, with both excellent lyrics and an amazing video to make it complete.
The band is called Kwoon and the song is called “I lived on the moon”.

Even though the music is very good, I wouldn’t have posted it if it wasn’t for the great lyrics. It’s pure poetry; the words express with such sincerity and heartiness the human desire to reach for the stars and to be true to ones dreams.

The last tribes

You can often get the feeling that the world is very small. Everything is right at your fingertips and there is not much that is left which is unknown to us.

But, there are still things that are unknown, and dare I say that it should stay unknown and be dearly guarded from our inability to let things be.

In Peru there are some 15 tribes that are unknown to the public. These tribes are made up from nomadic, small family groups that move around frequently, with the common denominator that they all shun outsiders. Perhaps the faith of thousands of tribesmen in the past have not gone unnoticed to these last tribes on the earth..?

Just last October Indians were spotted from a plane in the south-eastern region of the Amazon rainforest.

“During the plane’s second pass, one of the Indian women, carrying arrows and accompanied by a small boy, gestured aggressively, whilst the rest of the group sought refuge in the undergrowth.” [source]

We should ask ourselves, why do they shun us so much?
Perhaps they simply know that contact with us will inevitable lead to their own extinction?

It is estimated that there are over 100 tribes around the world that choose to reject contact with the civilized world. Everyday they face dangers from logging companies trying to take their land, environmental pollution and diseases from which they have no natural immune defense. And not to mention the overwhelming culture clash from the apparent dangers of trying to be apart-of the civilized world.

As human beings we have a responsibility to them and ourselves to do what we can to help. We must because there are no one else that can. Many people understand that this is an age where there just isn’t much more room for mistakes.

These are the last true guardians of the Earth
and when they are gone - we are gone.

Found my pen again & Celebrating a Blót

It feels like it is time again to start writing. Some of you have rightly noticed that I’ve been away from the public scenery for a couple of months, I needed to do other things for a number of reasons.
I won’t go into details but I feel I would like to brush on two things:

Firstly, I felt my personal life were calling. I wouldn’t say that I had neglected anything, but somehow I felt like something had gone missing. It was just time to tend to one self and act on worldly matters. It’s not good to think on an empty stomach as the saying goes, and I felt I needed to rest for a while.

Secondly, during my own navel gazing time.. I started to shift my energy towards a lighter focus. I realized I had been accumulating on dense, heavier energy (feeling down and just plain uneasy) so I acted on releasing and filling up on lighter energy instead.

Making a long story short. I now feel I’ve landed and will be writing here again.

Celebrating a Blót

Last night I attended an autumn Blot in the pleasant company of a couple of members from a Swedish group called Regin. A group whose members among other things, celebrates the coming of winter according to the old ways with the old Gods of the nordic Ásatrú.
It was a very nice evening below the stars out in the open sky, in the company of both friendly men and woman, as well as in the company of the otherworldly friendly unseen.

Here’s a picture of the Harg of Regin (the place where the Blot offering took place).

On the Harg you can see two woodcarvings of the gods Freyr and Freya. Two Vanir fertility gods of the northern tradition.

Is life a prison for the soul?

You could argue that the body with its limitations is a restriction for the soul. We have all sometimes felt the longing for freedom escaping this worlds boundaries, wanting to be free of the imagined prison which comes from inhabiting a frail body and in extension; living in a world with it’s limitations.

Life as a prison

Growing up, I had the unrelenting feeling that the harsh and troubled life I felt I was living, couldn’t possibly be anything else than a living hell. Although I knew that there must be something other than pain, I couldn’t find it wherever I looked and whatever I did. Life were my prison. But what I didn’t know was that I were my own most overzealous prison guard.

Whatever accomplishment or progress I would do; in my mind I couldn’t be free of the underlining feeling of hindrance. I thought that there would always, no matter what, be pain in my life. Somehow I had gotten to think that trouble and struggle were the foundation and framework for all life.

I would tell my self this fact - every day. No matter what happened or how happy I would get I always reminded myself of this fact. Because I didn’t know what else to do!

Can you see the unfolding pattern here? How can anything be good if I already had made up my mind that in the end everything would end up in pain anyhow.
It didn’t make any difference if there would be periods of happiness. In the end something bad would eventually happen and the circle would complete itself again.

Life is a prison for the soul if you believe that it is. The fact is that life is filled with circumstances and situations involving: happiness, pain, sorrow, anger, love and whatever you can imagine.

It’s like turning on a switch in the mind where you go from identifying with what happens in your life, to being the experiencer of the experiences.

Little by little the path which you thread on gets unfolded. You walk it as long as you want to do it. Whenever you like, you have just to stop.

Today I’ve been working and building. Part time webconstructioner extraordinaire.. as you all can see.

There’s a lot to be gained from getting lost in one’s work. Great pleasure.

What’s your path?

How many times have you answered this question? And have you given an explanation to your path each time to also perhaps. I wonder how much of the answer snares ones individuality into thoughts of stereotypes, as apposed to what it helps you and the person who’s asking by explaining what you are and what you do.

We’d like the answer to give the questioner a reference to what a person like yourself would commonly do with their life. Like if I would say I was a Shaman. You would know what it were. Right?

Have you ever wondered if the words that you think defines your path means the same to the one who’s asking? Meaning, are we thinking of the same thing?

We put a lot of faith into words but to express thoughts and feeling by means of sound or writing, doesn’t always give the results we expect.

We are like little bubbles in which every human lives hes life. And it takes a lot for us to start thinking outside that bubble.

Where do you get your thoughts from?

I’m not going to start preaching on the importance of feeling good about yourself and let everyone down by slipping in a couple of clichés. But I would like to talk about what most people already know.

Consider this sentence:

What you think- is in your head.

At first this sentence seems too obvious to make any sense. Of course everything I think is in my head, you might say.

But think about it then. If you can accept that you actually make up your views of the world from the inside of your skull. You then have no other option then to also accept that if you change your views – you change the world.

Namely:

The concept of the world is in your own imagination.

I think that the understanding of how we perceive reality is one of the best known ideas we have, but it’s also one of the most underestimated facts that is out there. We print t-shirts with slogans like: “think positive and the world will smile back on you” without ever realizing what it actually means.

If you want to change the way you think, you first need to understand where you get them from.

This was one of those songs that really got to me when I first heard it. It’s the beautiful music by Baz Luhrmann and a reading of an essay written by Mary Schmich titled: “Advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young”.
