Six Words of Advice from Tilopa

Let go of what has passed.
Let go of what may come.
Let go of what is happening now.
Don’t try to figure anything out.
Don’t try to make anything happen.
Relax, right now, and rest.

Dark places - the island of Poveglia

Are there such things as ghosts? Do you believe there are frightful, haunted places? Places with bad history where strange and terrible things have happened.

PovegliaIn Italy there is a small isolated island in the Venetian Lagoon called Poveglia. This island has a very dark and sad history. At first the island was used as a dumping ground for thousands of plague victims during the three times in history when the black plague spread throughout Europe. Terrified of the black death the officials of Venice tried to isolate anyone that showed symptoms by sending them to this island. Here they would all meet a faith not even imaginable. It is said that more than 160 000 human beings died there during these sad times. To this day fishermen are said to avoid the waters near the island because of the chance of catching human remains in their nets. Continue reading ‘Dark places - the island of Poveglia’

The living earth

Shamans have always known that the whole earth is alive. But not just with it’s little plants and animals but this includes rocks, hills, rivers and the very air you breathe!

It’s all one whole organism that everything, including us humans, are naturally included to. From a biologists viewpoint it could be thought of as if you looked at a drop of water through a microscope. Then you could easily point out the little microorganisms and various stuff floating around in there. But it only appears separated when looked at from a close perspective, for instance through a microscope. If you stood back you would just experience a drop of water wouldn’t you? Easter

At this time so many people all over the world are celebrating Easter. To Christians it is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ and it marks the end of the period of Lent (fasting). To the Jews it is a commemoration of the time when the people of Israel left Egypt.
But all this happened so long ago. Most families today are perhaps more interested in the fact that it is a time when many are free from work. And in any way this is a time of celebration and joy!

Here in Scandinavia where I live, we see many painted eggs and easter bunnies this time of year. All originally symbols of fertility. Eggs are a natural symbol of birth and renewal. Bunnies; well, they do multiply very well don’t they? So you can say they make a good symbol of fertility too.

.. Somehow all this Easter stuff got me thinking of Jesus and what he spoke from the cross: “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”
Throughout Christianity this event has created much thought and speculations. Why did he utter these words? Why didn’t God save him and if he was the son of God; then why didn’t he save himself? Biblically it is generally accepted that Jesus took upon himself all of our sins and died so that we could be spared.

Maybe it was so, if you believe.

I believe Jesus was a human being that had Awaken. Perhaps even a Buddha. The words he cried out from the cross came from the depths of his humanity. A man who knew the Eternal, but still a man whose body was in great agony.

The last words he spoke after that were:

“I am thirsty. ”

“It is finished. ”

“Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.”

On the subject of Rainbow Warriors

I came across this entertaining video. It’s well made and appeals to our sense of adventures and has an aura of mysticism to it. I admit that I like it, and it has cool music to..

What concerns me is that people generally feels that something is coming. That it’s not yet here, but will be soon. We don’t quite know when, but soon it will arrive. Why is it that we don’t want to accept that whatever spiritual changes we urge for, is never more then a breath away. Continue reading ‘On the subject of Rainbow Warriors’

Power animals and the Shaman

AnimalsThis is a topic people usually have little or no thought-out ideas about. We often hear about them and they are referred to in many conversations but very few seem to have a clue to what they are?
Are they real? Do people have one or many power animals that follow them around in life? Fuzzy bears walking beside people, soaring falcons or eagles hovering above your head..? This couldn’t be, or could it?

Who has a power animal?

Tradition in certain tribes says that we all have powerful spirits that choose to follow us on our life’s path. Some even go so far as to state that no babies would make it to adulthood if they didn’t have spirits to protect them. Continue reading ‘Power animals and the Shaman’
